Jeff Paul is the VP of Open Source at Fueled, where he leads a team of contributors working across WordPress core, Gutenberg, and more than two dozen open-source plugins. He’s been part of the WordPress release process since version 4.7, serving as release lead, deputy, or coordinator across multiple major versions, including WordPress 6.8.
At WCEH, Jeff will share insights from his talk, “Shipping WordPress Without Shipping Code: How Project Managers Can Lead Releases.” Drawing on years of release leadership, he’ll highlight the often-invisible roles that keep open source moving: coordinating priorities, unblocking contributors, guiding timelines, and helping teams communicate across time zones. His goal is to show PMs, product folks, and contributors alike how they can step into these roles and meaningfully shape successful releases, even without commit access.

And now for something a little Canadian 🇨🇦
What comes to mind when you think of Canada?
“Box lacrosse!”
Favourite Canadian artist?
“Barenaked Ladies with Our Lady Peace and Lem trailing close behind them.”
A Canadian food you love (or want to try in Ottawa)?
“Y’all seem to be promoting these BeaverTails, but I’m definitely going to chase down Butter Tarts (queue Steal My Sunshine on your music streaming service!)”
A sport / athlete (or other celebrity) you associate with Canada?
“Easily the Gait brothers (Paul and Gary) but right behind them would be Larry Walker (a massively under-appreciated MLB hall of famer and fantastic option in Immaculate Grid).”
RIP John Candy!
