So we’re giving it more time, and we’re going to be upfront about what we’re hoping shows up in that extra window.

First, the Obvious Thing

More than half of what we’ve received is about AI — building with it, shipping it, questioning it, monetizing it, getting weird philosophical about it. That’s genuinely great, and we want that energy in the room. Keep those talks coming.

But WordCamp isn’t a single-topic conference, and right now, this lineup is leaning hard one direction. With extra time on the clock, here’s where we need you.

The Gaps We Need You to Fill

Accessibility

We’ve got exactly one accessibility talk so far. One. For an event that usually treats accessibility as a pillar, not a footnote. If you audit sites, build for screen readers, fight color contrast battles, or have opinions about ARIA labels — this is your sign. Submit.

The Open Social Web

ActivityPub. Federation. WordPress as part of the open social web instead of a walled garden. Last year this had its own keynote. This year? Crickets. If you’re building with the Fediverse or thinking hard about what “open” means for publishing in 2026, we need you on this stage.

How WordPress Actually Ships

Nobody has submitted a talk about contributing to core, how releases get made, or the unglamorous glue work that keeps this whole project running. If you’ve ever shepherded a release, wrangled a Trac ticket, or done the thankless work that makes WordPress WordPress — tell us about it.

Security & Supply Chain

Plugin vulnerabilities don’t take a year off just because everyone’s talking about agents and AI APIs. If you think about dependency risk, package security, or what happens when the supply chain gets federated, we want that perspective in the room.

Performance

One Lighthouse talk is doing a lot of heavy lifting right now. Caching strategies, hosting architecture, Core Web Vitals, database optimization — if you’ve made a slow site fast, that talk has a home here.

Design & UX (for humans who aren’t developers)

We’ve got one talk on intrinsic design. That’s it. If you think about content editor experience, client-facing UX, or what it actually feels like to use the block editor as a non-coder — this stage needs you.

Diversity & Inclusion

We have one talk tackling representation in the WordPress community. One is a start, not a destination. If you’re doing the work to make this community more accessible to more people, we want to hear how.

Beginner-Friendly, Non-AI Content

Almost everything we’ve received assumes you’re already an intermediate developer or running an agency. If you remember what it’s like to be brand new to WordPress — and can teach to that — we are short on that voice this year.

Here’s the Ask

You’ve got until July 10th. That’s real time to write up the talk you’ve been sitting on, especially if it falls into one of the categories above.

We’re not trying to talk anyone out of an AI talk. We just want WordCamp Canada 2026 to look like the whole community, not just the loudest conversation in it. So if you read this list and felt a little spark of “oh, I could talk about that” — that’s the whole point of this post.

Submit your talk. Tell a friend who works on accessibility. Tag the person you know who’s obsessed with ActivityPub. Share this post.

Let’s build a lineup that has something for everyone who walks through the door.

Submit a Talk!

WordCamp Canada 2026 extends its speaker deadline to July 10 and asks for talks on accessibility, security, performance, and more.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[43,1

post-2023","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-speakers","category-updates
["GET
