WordCamp Storytelling

what's your story?

Do you have a story to tell?

Speakers at WordCamps are an eclectic bunch. They bring stories of all kinds. Yes, there are tech talks ranging from how to get started to advanced coding techniques and leading-edge trends. But you will also find talks focused on content, lifestyle, community and more. You have only to look at the schedule for a recent camp like WordCamp Asia 2024 or WordCamp US 2023 to get some idea of the range.

WordCamps have always given real emphasis to storytelling. Speakers tell their own personal stories, illustrating the rewards and challenges of the WordPress lifestyle and how to develop the necessary life-skills. And there are stories about how WordPress has helped support and build community and how it impacts social issues.

Many speakers do not have a background in public speaking and start out with some sense of ‘imposter syndrome’ – “this isn’t what I’m good at, what I have to say isn’t important”. WordCamps provide a supportive environment where novice speakers are welcomed alongside more seasoned presenters.

So, do you have a story to tell? How has WordPress impacted you or a community or organization you work with? How has the WordPress community supported this and where could it do better?

Then why not apply to speak at WordCamp Canada 2024 and share your story with the WordPress community.
